So much to discover, to explore... there are provably countless other "hidden" spots providing more diversity that we haven't found yet... Boooo piers! Tongue The pier crowds have it all wrong lol.

There are lots of productive rocky shore to fish. The only thing is...

Do you know which are safe and which are not?

Some of these shorelines gets flooded on the incoming tides, and you can be pushed up right against the rocky cliffs on high tide with nowhere to retreat. Also, when the tide comes in, the waves may be bigger and rougher than expected (since they are cresting over the shallow rocky shelves you were just fishing from), so it can be dangerous again.

Piers and more developed shorelines may not offer exceptional fishing, but at least they are safe. Last thing you want is risking your life in your foreign country for a fish.

That's where knowing local friends with solid intel helps...A LOT. Wink

I'll be looking for more NorCal spots for next time for spots for Greenling (Kelp, Rock and Painted), Perch (Striped, Black, Rubberlip and Calico), Rockfish (Blue, Black and Yellow, Grass, Kelp) and Cabezon...and much more Big Grin

Malama o ke kai

Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear. I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger.

Life List: 577 species and counting (2016: 91 new species)
