I have a much better idea of it all now, thanks! When we were out on the rivers, I wasn't thinking of stripping in order to tighten the line, I would use all my slack line to extent the drift. This would result not only in slack line, but drag in the drift.

What's the best way of drifting a long ways downstream? I will learn to mend Smile.

I have to remember to start the drift with my rod tip high, so I can lower the rod to extent without introducing slack line.
