I have the light action Berkley lightning rod and it's got awesome bite detection sensitivity. You would probably be very happy with the advertised 8'6" medium Berkley for both Pike and Carp.
For the money you should jump on the Daiwa Regal 1500XI Spinning Reel. 10 ball bearing, plus one way roller bearing.!
