RE: Is this a pike or muskie?
Northern Pike - light/cream coloured bean shaped patterns on a dark (usually green or bronze) background, the upper and lower lobes of tail fins are less forked (more squared) and rounder tail fins.
This pike has uncharacteristically more pointed tail fins. But there is no question it is a pike...just look at the markings. This little pike has more characteristic rounder fins. Muskellunge - dark bars or spots arranged in bar patterns on a light (usually light green, bronze or sometimes silvery grey) background, the upper and lower lobes of tail fins are more forked and definite pointy fin tips. Malama o ke kai Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear. I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger.
