Hm...not sure why picture #1 doesn't turn out and picture #2 is okay. Both are in the same album in my Photobucket account...and I'm 100% sure both had not been moved or the link changed.

Here are the links to the picture (I removed the IMG tags intentionally so the links will show up)

Help?

I have some cool pictures to share but this is driving me nuts!

**Oh...looks like the links are truncated...I wonder if that is also why the pictures are not showing up? I've tried this with various picture links and all the pictures with longer links are not showing up.

RE: Picture test
Got it Ken! There're some extra characters in the url to the first image, how'd they get there! I'm going to be looking into this right now.

This code is added into the url when it is followed, it doesn't appear with this code in it. So odd

%E2%80%8B, or E2 80 8B which is a Zero Width Space (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-width_space)

RE: Picture test
Let's try something...

I'm testing with Picture #1 from above, the one that failed to show. I uploaded the same picture to Photobucket, with the exception that one upload was done with a longer filename and the other upload was done with a shorter filename...thus, one has a longer link and the other has a shorter link, respectively. For all intensive purposes, the pictures are the same size, resolution...etc.

Longer link:

Shorter link:

MA, I think you're right, the zero-space break inserted to the link probably affected to the link path of the picture...and thus the pictures cannot be displayed because this is no such path (with the extra characters inserted).

RE: Picture test
I was suspecting the length of the file name (and thus the length of the link). Have you posted the long file name pics elsewhere? Is the issue unique for this forum?

RE: Picture test
Posted on many other forums without issue. This is the first one I've run into this.

Maybe there is some little checkbox you can uncheck to switch off the truncation of long text?

I disabled link/url shortening (required a core file edit... strange animal this myBB is). But I see the problem persists. Going to keep trying.

RE: Picture test
Well here's the (depressing) verdict:

http://dev.mybboard.net/issues/409

"Updated by Ryan Gordon over 2 years ago
This probably will not be fixed until at least 2.0. This is due to the fix being either extremely slower, extremely hacky, or requires huge rewrites of code, and this problem would only occur in 1 in a million."

Yet again, the limitation of free forum software rears its ugly head.

I GOT IT! WHOOOO!!!

Hip hip horay! Basically now the forum is relying on default CSS and html word-wrapping. I disabled the forum's own word wrapping function.

Let's see some pics Ken Big Grin Tongue
