i'm ok with spending top of the line high end shimano baitcasters...as for rods...i don't think i am ready to drop more than 400...anything below that is my current range...in the end...its you that is going to be using your gear..why not get the best that you can to make things enjoyable...i tend to upgrade all my reels also with after market drags/bearings/carbon handles...they have to look nice to IMO..
