RE: Salmon Fishing anyone?
Context people...context...

"I can tell you that fish are still in 20 - 30 FOW = fish out of water, but this is quite some distance away from the river mouth, definitely out of casting range. It was a south wind so technically that should push salmon toward the mouth, but we did not marked anything on the graph around the mouth. We mark a bunch of fish further out at 20 - 30 FOW = fish out of water only. After speaking to everyone at the launch and on the pier, no one caught any salmon in the evening. We took two hits...one was a Brown Trout, the other likely a tail slap."

FOW = feet of water

Now that makes more sense, right? Wink

Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear. I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger.

20-30 FOW (depth) is not that far from shore... I can cast way out and should be at least 20-25 feet deep!!! Smile

RE: Salmon Fishing anyone?
What about Rouge River at the beach/parking lot area at the end of Lawrence Ave? Any salmon run up that area?

I am trying to find close places around the GTA as I can not travel far. Also which fishing area has the highest percentage of catching salmon?

Salmon do run up the rouge from there, but I haven't seen them at the mouth in the kind of numbers that would make me fish there. I go up and down the rouge starting near the zoo and I'll see maybe 20-30 salmon scattered along the river from there up to Milne Dam. It's ok if you have waders and want to go on a hike to chase fish lol

If you want salmon in numbers, try Oshawa creek, duffins creek, Bowmanville creek, and especially Port Hope. Those rivers hold a good run of salmon where the pools are just stacked with fish
