Stories of my firsts
Recently, I added a new "feature" to my blog. I decided to write a series of stories detailing the first capture of each species. These stories not only hold great sentimental values, but also demonstrate the learning opportunities, the lessons and the growth along the way.

After catching 473 species, there are still lessons I'm learning (as demonstrated by my recent new addition - species #474 - Blackbanded Sunfish).

The first few species I've caught were Ontario species that most of you can probably relate to the stories in some way. I will slowly add to these stories as time permits. For now, I have written about my first 5 species. I'll post the links here for your convenience. In the future, you can simply check my species list on the blog and see if there is a story link associated with the species. For example, it should read something like "My first Pumpkinseed".

For the moment, I have not constructed a page to organize all these stories (or link to these stories) in a chronological or easily accessed format. Perhaps I can do that in the future. But at the moment, my push is to finish writing all these stories first. The organization can be easily achieved later.

Anyhoo...here they are:

Pumpkinseed - Species #1

Rock Bass - Species #2

Yellow Perch - Species #3

Nice concept! nice experiences to share.

I laughed at the missing lure during your largemouth catch.... So many times I have come back to my rod to ask "Now, where did that bobber go? Crap, reel, reel."

RE: Stories of my firsts
Well, I ended up creating a new page to put the species and stories in chronological order. My existing species list will still be kept since I like the scientific organization of the species...but this chronological list and stories should be interesting as well.

** I maintain this blog mostly for my own enjoyment. It gives me a spaces outside of my pictures and excel files to record all this information. Smile
