We'll be meeting on the south shore of Long Pond, as indicated in MikeH's map

I had a good time, shame that the weather coming in off the lake and water temps in the low 40's killed off the bite. I think the CAG guys will definitely be back again though!

Mike, what about the Pike opener weekend in May for the next OSF meetup...? (maybe get together with the Fishing Fury crew?)

Thanks to everybody for making it out and Lorne for sharing our get-together with the Carp Anglers Group!

A few hours after you left, MikeH, we moved to the swan pond. We could see the carp in there swimming around but not exactly feeding.

After everybody left I walked around the pond for a few more hours. I had quite a few bowfin sightings (probably the same 2 fish multiple times LOL). They weren't interested in my worm though. Heart-pumping action none-the-less.

I could see them and they could see me, so escape was probably on their mind, not feeding.
Awesome!

Don't you just love those bowfin? LOL. They can be a pain some days...

Last time I pitched a worm at the same fish 3 different times (morning, afternoon, then about another 5 min later). In the morning, the fish was bedded down and I had the worm wriggling in from of its face for over 10 minutes...and it just sat there staring at it. Eventually, it decided it was enough and swam off. Then in the afternoon, I found it again sitting under some fallen branches. Again, I had the worm an inch from its face wriggling...and ignored. The fish eventually got out and left. I walked a little further and found the fish in the open this time. As soon as I pitched the worm close to it, the fish took off.

They are frustrating...but once you get one to hit, it's addictive LOL.

Hopefully I can make it out next time. Keep at it with the bowfin. Once the water gets warmer and they get their spawning thing over with, they'll be more willing to hit. Last year, I couldn't get a bowfin to hit from May to June. Come July, I spotted 3 bowfin and got all 3 to hit. It's a very evident change in their behaviours once they are done spawning.

Carp as well of course. Those carp are spawning now...wait until they are done...then it could be pandemonium on some days. Getting multiple hits and hookups in just a few hours is not typical but not uncommon either hahaha. So days they are feeding to much they turn the water completely muddy.
Good to see u guys had a good time. Sorry again for not making it out. Next meet is a must! For pike!!
I had a great time. Thanks for going to the effort of organizing it. You have a real gem of a place there . I will be back.
So, when is the next one? Smile

Well, if the way to learn is to watching the pros, it seems that I must be there! Smile
