Thank-you to everyone who participated! Thank-you to MuskieBait for policing entries with his fish ID chops. We all learned a bit more about the fish (big and small) that swim in our waters. That's the prize Wink.

We'll get a brand new contest up and running pronto! For the next contest I want to increase the ease of participation. OldTimer's already sent me a grand idea, and I'm open to even more suggestions!
It was fun! I had a blast hunting these species down. Hopefully we get much more participation in the next one! I'm looking forward to this years contest.

Thank you to Mike and Ken for organizing and running the contest.
I am so jealous of OTs redhorses!
Congratulations Giuga10 - well done.. well earned.

Cheers,

OldTimer
Yeah OT's greater redhorse was a nice treat. I still haven't caught a greater redhorse before.

I'm not quite sure if the badge is a good idea for future contests. I know from my experience that having to frame the fish with the badge increased the time it was out of the water and we also missed a few entries due to forgetting the badge (having to release a fish quickly) or not having the badge with us. Since there are no formal prizes, I'm leaning towards the honour system for this season. Thoughts?
If there are no prizes, then honour system works...

But if there are no prizes, there is less incentive to enter the contest...most people are not interested in putting in the work to catch these "unconventional" species if they don't have some material gain from it.

I still like some kind of identification to show that fish are caught during the contest year. I was thinking some kind of "official thumb ring" that you can wear so that you can hold the fish in hand to take the picture and minimize time out of the water. But it will still be difficult not to obscure identifying features when you hold the fish in hand.

That's just my $0.02.
I vote for the honor system.... Most of the contests seem to be fishing for fun and logging there catches (at least that's the way it was with me).
the uploading image function never worked since the last time I posted my catch. otherwise.....

Have you tried uploading your pictures to server (like imgur) and using the link to the image?
No, I'm too lazy. Smile
