I bought a license online last night, I'm getting quite the collection. Florida, Nevada, Arizona, New York....
Milk your fishing license is still valid for this year. You can all way go back to Florida fishing
Thanks Googie, good idea!
turns out the weather is going to be absolute crap here this weekend. Its 90 degrees with thunderstorms and full humidity. You cant go outside for more than 30 seconds without your clothes sticking to you....
That's too bad Mike. Yeah, definitely go back if you have a chance since your full year license would still be good.
Take me with you
For the hot, humid weather, I get these fast drying shirts that several companies make (Columbia, BassPro, etc). I find the BassPro ones just as good as the Columbia ones (I have one of each)...so save a few bucks and get the BassPro shirts.
The fast drying, moisture wicking material really make you that much more comfortable, and the meshed cape back and sometimes the armpit areas allow for good ventilation, so you may hardly even sweat if there is a good breeze. I've used them so far in Hawaii, California, Florida, Greece, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong...those are some pretty hot places
Downtown Calgary itself isnt exactly a fishing haven, and next week might be a wee bit early for the good stuff out there...
.. but the short 1/2 day drive up/back through Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise is fantastic. If you have time.
If not that - next week weather won't be that bad in Calgary (.. so my son reports - he lives there) spend a few hours checking out the Prince's Island park on the Bow River and have a pint at the River Cafe.
Love it out there:

I lived up at Lake Louise for about 18 months when I was working at the Hotel there, must be 8 years ago now. I know you can fish the Bow river in Calgary, and I used to have a great time hauling big ass lake trout and Artic Char out of Lake Minnewanka in Banff Park. I Went ice fishing on Spray Lakes Canmore once....froze my ass off!!
Looks like the Calgary team got their system running, so I'm not flying out. I think I'll be hitting the Toronto Islands for a few hours, late Sunday afternoon instead.
"Mike from Lake Louise"...................... nah...............no ring to it.............smile
