If there are no prizes, then honour system works...
But if there are no prizes, there is less incentive to enter the contest...most people are not interested in putting in the work to catch these "unconventional" species if they don't have some material gain from it. I still like some kind of identification to show that fish are caught during the contest year. I was thinking some kind of "official thumb ring" that you can wear so that you can hold the fish in hand to take the picture and minimize time out of the water. But it will still be difficult not to obscure identifying features when you hold the fish in hand. That's just my $0.02. Malama o ke kai Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear.
