RE: Is this a pike or muskie?
Northern Pike - light/cream coloured bean shaped patterns on a dark (usually green or bronze) background, the upper and lower lobes of tail fins are less forked (more squared) and rounder tail fins.
![]() This pike has uncharacteristically more pointed tail fins. But there is no question it is a pike...just look at the markings. ![]() This little pike has more characteristic rounder fins. ![]() Muskellunge - dark bars or spots arranged in bar patterns on a light (usually light green, bronze or sometimes silvery grey) background, the upper and lower lobes of tail fins are more forked and definite pointy fin tips. ![]() ![]() Malama o ke kai Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear. I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger. Life List: 577 species and counting (2016: 91 new species) http://muskiebaitadventures.blogspot.ca/...-list.html |
