RE: Catfish
Channel or bullheads? Bullheads can be found in pretty much any pond, while I hear good things about channel catfish in Dunnville Ontario.

Hey,

Hope this helps a wee bit:

Bullheads = relatively slow water (ponds , lakes) – worms work great, they will take chicken livers too.

Channel Cats = rivers and a bit of current, cut bait for big fish, worms or chicken livers for smaller fish. These kitties spawn in spring (mid April/May/early June) having big fish enter river mouths. Will hit lures (spinners & spoons as well) with a bottom bouncing presentation.

Most of our larger Lake Ontario and Lake Erie rivers' lower sections have a resident population of channel cats – of a bit smaller size – but can still go 8lbs+ occasionally. (Grand, Welland, Thames, Saugeen)

Watch these videos and you’ll be on your way – they mention their fishing location in Southern Ontario:

Bait (if yer comin this way - these fellas will have what ya need – call first re cut bait(suckers)

I use a simple sliding sinker rig with fair size circle hooks (1/0 or larger) for channel cats with cut bait and a wow size sinker. Ultra-light tackle should not be considered as appropriate.

Never really targeted bullheads a whole bunch. But hey………. once ya get’em cleaned and skinned– they actually taste real good.

Cheers,

RE: Catfish
Nice size channels should be a blast, I've never targeted them yet. If you're happy with small bullheads then a worm on the bottom will get you them in most water.

I should get me some ultralight. In the meantime maybe I can use a very long straw and some sewing thread Tongue lol jk... oh wait that might be interesting for chubs!

Hand-lined chubs FTW! Going to post a report about this when I try it... hold me to it!

RIGHT NOW.

You will catch smaller fish above the Dam....... but there is a lot of easy access just above the Dam/Bridge on the city side.

The larger fish are caught below the dam. Access is a tad more limited and will require effort on your part to discover.

Cheers,
