Greetings to all OSF members!
My name is Victor. I am an immigrant and come to Canada in 2007. In August of 2012 my friend took me to the lake Opeongo to try real fishing. Using only Mepps Aglia I managed to land a couple of LMB. Since that the diagnosis is fishing obsession
This year I was lucky to have fish on twice fishing lake Ontario. Overwhelmed with unexpected catch first time and shaking hands having no net I just touched fish few times and it jumped off the hook. Thought it was Rainbow Trout but now not sure as the second fish I caught recently happened to be Atlantic Salmon and the first fish was also silvery but bigger. After I checked "Urban Fisheries of the Toronto Region" document on Tommy Thompson Park web site I found out that Rainbow Trout is rather brown-yellow than silver so Atlantic Salmon fits better. Now I am wondering which other suprises waters of lake Ontario may have. |

Welcome Victor,
Good on you for clarifying the species. Always good to know which fish you're catching or seeing. Welcome aboard! |

RE: Greetings to all OSF members!
Hi OldTimer,
Thank you for sending the link to the document. Looks like Steelhead can be bright silver... One point in favour of Atlantic Salmon that my fish had no any spots on the tail and perhaps the fact that the tail and some fins were edged with lighter/whiter strips. Cheers, ReelingMachine |
