New to the forum
Hi from Brampton,
I did a lot of fishing as a kid, now I have 2 kids of my own, I find myself rediscovering my passion for fishing. After taking off more then 15 years from fishing, it's been fun to relearn the sport. I was wondering if anyone here has used the hummingbird line of smart cast fish finders? I've read mixed reviews, with most complaints being that the transponder stops working and the battery can't be replaced. This would be a cool gadget for shore fishermen, if it works well. http://ca.humminbird.com/category/296590...ast_Series Any tips on spring fishing? Where can I take my kids and when? What's in season? Bait and lure choices, like I said, I'm trying to relearn the sport, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, John |

RE: New to the forum
Hi John,
Welcome to OSF and your return to angling. Great sport - and great for kids. What's in season can be found here (the regulations): http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/Let...63615.html I think a member put a post up just a month or so ago about the device you speak of........... http://ontarioshorefishing.com/forum/Thr...inder-RF35 Lot's of info here - if you poke around thru the past posts. Good bunch of people here.......... I'm sure you'll find/get lots of helpful info. Cheers, OldTimer <>< I once gave up fishing. It was the most terrifying weekend of my life. ><> See you on the river. |

Hi John. Thanks for the info on the Hummminbird fishfinder. I had never heard of that type before (usable from shore). From some of the research I've done so far, it would seem that the Norcross Hawkeye F33P might be a more reliable choice. Also, it uses good old aaa batteries.
Happy Fishing! |

Use a half of a live worm, size 8 hook, and a split shot a bit up the line and fish the bottom sandy pools. Just let it sit until you see a tug. If nothing for a few minutes, re-cast it or move on to the next pool. I hope that helps, suckers are a lot of fun! |

Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware anybody else was making a shore fish finder. I have to be honest though, the kid in me kinda likes the idea of wearing it on my wrist like some James Bond gadget! But being able to replace the batteries is more practical. John (03-18-2013 12:28 PM)MichaelAngelo Wrote:(03-17-2013 01:09 PM)John Pimentel Wrote: Where can I take my kids and when?
