RE: Piers near Markham.
After a cold few weeks of July/August and some North winds, it's getting warmer again. I wonder if the staging salmon will leave, or stick it out and bake? Time will tell!

RE: Piers near Markham.
a few harbours along the north and south shore of lake ontario have net imprinting project where salmon fry are raised for a few weeks in the spring in net/pens and hoping to imprint this water for their breeding instinct, the salmon actually come back to these harbours.
Bluffers being one of them the easiest way to attract a salmon in this "Breeding" period of their life is to apply a running water hose you will notice them follow the "current", as most of these place have very little current flow... When pier fishing ensure you have a LARGE net with a Long handle... you never know when you are going to hook into a 30 pound slamon. BTW, The King slamon are already touching the river mouths, there should be some good pier Chucking reports coming up..... ~Jeremy. |

Sweet! I'll add a fire truck to my tackle box! Do they make a plano in that size? |

Does this mean that the current flow produced by a boat propeller's thrust attracts them? <>< I once gave up fishing. It was the most terrifying weekend of my life. ><> See you on the river. |

RE: Piers near Markham.
There is outflow and in flow under the bridge...that's why salmon converge in that spot...it may sound great but it is pretty sad actually. because salmons think they are going upstream only to find there's no "up" on the otherside and go back and forth. this is the spot where you find the "marshmellow" anglers' honey hole. I will not be participating in the salmon run and will target pike during these times. Let me know if there's a meet up and I will be down for anything.

You could be on to something, If the boat was anchor'd and producing a current in the water of a bay they have selected as their source to find a spawning stream They will always swim upstream/against current. ~Jeremy |
