RE: Discovering New Fishing Opportunities
Very good system Dave. I do something similar of my own on the GPS too. My GPS allows me to associate various symbols with each coordinate. For example, a potential location I've identified receives a "waypoint" symbol. If I fished a location and I was successful, I change the symbol to a "fishing area" symbol. If a location looked promising but I have not had success yet, I tend to keep it as a "waypoint" - perhaps I have not "cracked the code" yet. If a location was a complete bust (too shallow, too weedy, too busy), I may remove it all together.
I guess our important message here to new anglers is that you will be more successful if you are organized and keep good records...and don't give up that easily on locations. Explore a lot, rethink your fishing technique and seasonal patterns, and simply have fun. Malama o ke kai Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear. I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger. Life List: 577 species and counting (2016: 91 new species) http://muskiebaitadventures.blogspot.ca/...-list.html |
