Portable Fish Finders anyone?

I happily stumbled across this portable fish finder system at my local Walmart today:

With Walmart's solid return policy, I thought I'd give it a spin this weekend (... and the next maybe? ) on my trip to Algonquin Park's massive, deep lakes. Canoe mounting should be interesting....

Of course, it's going to be my first time using a fish finder. I'm scrambling about the net searching for tutorials .
