2013 OSF Ontario Multi-species Challenge
I was getting ready for work this morning and thought...Hm...it would be interesting to have a multi-species challenge for the members of OSF, since I love multi-species fishing so much myself.

I hope this challenge can encourage members to target new and exciting, and sometimes obscure, species, fish new locations and learn new techniques. As anglers, we are always learning and it is great to look outside of the box.

So...here's the proposal.

1) Competition season starts on January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013.

2) All fish species (native, introduced, invasive, micro) counts.

3) Fishing locations restricted to Ontario ONLY.

4) No restriction on fishing method, that is, icefishing, trolling, bottom bouncing, float fishing...etc, are all accepted.

5) All fish must be caught legally, that is, within open season, hook and line only (no snagging or bowfishing) and within waters open for fishing for the particular species (no sanctuaries or targeting fish that has year round closures). No exceptions for incidental catches (that is, if you were steelhead fishing after trout season opens and you caught a walleye when walleye season is still closed, you cannot count the walleye when it is caught out of season at that location).

6) Species entry can only be counted when photographs clearly show identifying characteristics. A blurry picture will disqualify the species entry. All entries can only count with a picture of the angler and a 2013 OSF OMC badge (can be printed out and laminated). In some cases, a second closeup picture may be needed for identification purposes.

Maybe a prize can be award at the end of the competition. Michael and I can chat about that. But I think bragging rights is probably more important Big Grin

Oh, and since I proposed it, I can't compete in it...but I can be the moderator and the judge.

Malama o ke kai

Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear. I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger.

Life List: 577 species and counting (2016: 91 new species)
