RE: OSF Garbage Derby
Here's a new addition to the garbage derby, from our latest meet-up at Mount Joy pond in Markham!

Cudos to Jeremy for hauling a 10 foot metal gate out of the water as well!

RE: OSF Garbage Derby
That’s a good idea, but who will clean the fishing points from annoying weed that comes out with every cast?

The weeds are something we want to keep. They are great habitat for fish and they provide a source for food. Try using weedless/hook with a weed guard, lure. Usually where there's weeds there's fish.

I've had friends tell me they moved out of weedy areas to cast their lures because they kept getting stuck on weeds... needless to say they didn't catch much after changing spots Tongue

Generally, the under appreciate bobber (I prefer using a slip bobber because it allows me to reel in and cast) can keep you above the weeds. Great for reeling in live bait just above the weeds were the bass are hiding.

You're right... totally under appreciated. When I have used live bait, I've freelined it with just a circle hook and let the bait do its own thing next to weeds... and wait for a steady slow tug... worked for me. I can see how a bobber would control the situation a bit more though.

anyway let's go out there and photograph some garbage!! (and throw it out properly after) Big Grin

Some of my greatest finds from November thus far:

Featuring a super old-style metal spoon with red beads. I hauled up a spoon just like that one from the bottom of a lake this summer and it seemed over 50 years old!

I'm averaging about 1.5 floats for every outing Big Grin.

I also found a broken Xbox, but I didn't take a picture of it. Going to see if I can salvage parts from it.

We could probably get a good round up on Saturday, at the Rouge.

Well it's a brand new season - and the beginning of our chances to do the good deed that only takes a few moments.

Show pride in your play place. It makes you smile.

Cheers,

OldTimer

<>< I once gave up fishing. It was the most terrifying weekend of my life. ><>
