They stay put better on the bottom with the lower profile, and dont roll around or move so much as the ball or barrel ones.

RE: Tackle/Fishing Supplies..Tips/Tricks
How to make cheap light weight spoon found at Lebaron ( 50 cents) or dollar store heavier ,for moving current RIver fishing application? Good at whirlpool fishing. Use the small spoon, more effective than the bigger ones.
1. Bend a penny to the shape of a spoon, then use contact cement or epoxy glue to glue them, make sure to put cement on both side of penny and spoon, dry for couple of minutes before attaching them together.
2 Add some reflectorized (fish scale pattern)sticker found at fishing store to make the spoon glitter.
3. Add glow in the dark paint or sticker (michaels craft store) to make them visible at night for Salmon fishing application.

Buy cheap beads at michaels, good for trout fishing. go on line and grab the 40% off coupon.

For backing line, Dollarama has some cheap 50lb braided line.
Most dollar store crank bait are way too light for river fishing application. TO make them heavier?

Drills a 3/8" hole, add any miniture plastic beads, sand, pebbles material, etc... seal the hole with a glue gun.

Always resharpen the hooks, the antirust protective coating make many crankbait hooks less sharp.

I go to the wine making store and buy bags of loose corks...i make a slit in the top, press the line of my walleye spinner rigs into the slot.....then wrap the rest around the cork and secure by pushing the hook through the cork. Neat, tidy, secure and tangle free way of storing.

Didn't think of that. I got myself a Lindy Rigger for $4 after I saw MikeH packing one

Great for storing rigs, $4 well spent I think. Much better than the ziplock bag method I was using before that Tongue

I also use a couple of them for keeping flies attached to.

Thanks Mike,

That jogged a tip I'd like to share re flies:

Keep those magnetic business cards or fridge magnet things ya get - they are great for sticking flies to .......... and if you happen to have a small metal hinged box from mints or throat lozenges - these pair up great withn the magnetic strips to become a fly case.............

Cheers,

OldTimer

<>< I once gave up fishing. It was the most terrifying weekend of my life. ><>

Why floating? Do you fish them floated off the bottom?

I have some floating jigs and I've never used them Tongue

they hold the bait just off bottom...and can help prevent snags if retrieving a cast.
