RE: Angler rights being threatened in Port Hope
The bad guys may just by a pass to fly under the radar. $40 is not that prohibitive to thieves and scammers but a serious pain for those who like to try out new spots.
Last year I left my family in Toronto as I was coming back to Ottawa and had, for the first time, 2-3 hours to go scope out the Port Hope fishing. I did not catch anything but worked about 500 meters of the river and talked to the locals to get insight. During that trip I paid for a full talk of Gas (70L or about $70-$80) bought lunch (~$15) and snacks and drinks for the ride home ($10). Needless to say I would not have stopped and spent any money there if I had to ante $40 just to get started. |
