I have used the Baja Magnum rod before, exact model as yours. It is a great rod with good backbone for fish within its intended rating.
But...the new one I bought had a chipped guide insert. Not sure if this was due to handling at the store, or a manufacturer defect. In any case, I need to bring it back and have it resolved. Also...my friend snapped his...but that's after fighting a few roosterfish with it on the same day, and he was trying to stop a 15lb roosterfish. Like I say...if you play within limits, it's a good rod. Cats and carp should not be an issue. Malama o ke kai Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear.
