Newbe confused about baits / equipments
Hi folks!
I am pretty green in the art of fishing (actually, my only "catch" was a bottle ) I was wondering if you guys can give me some hints regarding different baits for different fishes.... at least the most common like bass, pike, carp, etc. I live in Thornhill and my spots will be Milne Dam Reservation Park and Togood Pound Park. Does anyone fish in these spots? if yes, what kind of fish do you usually get there? Can you suggest anything from this list? What kind of baits / equipments do you use? Thanks!! |

RE: Newbe confused about baits / equipments
From that list I've had good success with the yellow "floating salmon eggs" for trout.

Try to get whole kernel corn, or else you may get a can of chopped up corn which doesn't stay on the hook too well. Learned that lesson once when I bought a can of cut corn...never again. You can always depend on worms for multi-species action...everything will eat a worm...panfish, bass, pike, trout, carp...even had a spawning salmon gulp down a whole nightcrawler so deep down the gullet that we couldn't even see the hook anymore. Who said salmon don't bite in the river (okay...99% of the time they don't...but that odd case surprised me a lot!) Malama o ke kai Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear. I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger. Life List: 577 species and counting (2016: 91 new species) http://muskiebaitadventures.blogspot.ca/...-list.html |

RE: Newbe confused about baits / equipments
I've had sparse success at Toogood, but there definitely are carp and suckers in there. My go-to right now is sucker and carp fishing along the rouge river, I just pack my gear into my backpack and go for a hike along the river. Present a worm or some corn along the bottom, sit and wait, no bites, move on down river.
Right now the seasons for Pike and Bass and Trout are closed in the York Region area. |

I got a pack of this one, but I haven't tried yet... can you guys give me a hint on which gulp! products I should put my money? They have a pretty decent rebate on all their products... 5 - 8 bucks cash back, depending on the product. |
